Being in Balance!

Today I got my butt kicked in my weight lifting class. My instructor returned after being gone for 2 weeks and she was ready to kill us. This lady is all about cardio because that was the focus for about 30 minutes of the class. I can tell that the other instructors focus on lifting so my heart was out of shape. Today my body is very sore and broke down. Tomorrow is yoga so it will be a rest day for me.

Being in balance: This month is all about finding a balance when it comes to workout. By adding yoga and pilates to my routine of weight lifting and cardio it gives my body time to rest and lengthen my muscles.

Feeling less pressure: This month I feel less pressure to double up on my workouts because my body is getting leaner with more muscle mass. I still need to workout five days a week but now it feels like a nice routine and part of my life. There will be shake-up classes but not as many.

Feeling good about my eating choices: I don't feel the urge to binge. This is good news for me because it means I have changed my bad behavior. Pasta and rice is still on my no-no list only because of the way I feel after eating them. I feel bloated, tried, gross, and unhappy. It's not worth all the drama.

Still pampering myself: This weekend I am schedule for an 1 1/2 massage and my body is in need of one. Pampering myself is a gift that I give to myself twice a month. If I have to pick up cans and bottles to pay for my massage that is what I will do. This is a requirement.

Workout schedule for the month: 5 Pilate Pulse classes, 8 Core Central classes, 8 Weight Lifting classes, 4 Zumba classes and 4 Yoga classes.

So that is my life this month!

  1. What a great mix of workouts. Do you have a favorite?

BTW, I'm a massage therapist and am so glad to hear that you are adding regular massage to your routine. It really helps with recovery after a workout.

  5. I keep hearing how wonderful yoga is, but for me, my stomach is just too big and I'm not limber enough to get in those positions. I look forward to the day when I can. Maybe this summer! I tried a Zumba class last night for the first time. Again, my stomach is too big still to be jumping up and down and shaking and shimmying like that. The hip movements were a real spectacle, lol. But after I get this ridiculous stomach to shrink some more, I'll be back at it!

  7. I really like your blog and your title is great. Someone once told that I was a fat guy with a skinny guy inside just fighting to get out. That scarred me. How did that guy know I ate my cousin Ernie. LOL. But seriously I love the blog, keep up the good work.
